Thirty-four-year-old Robert Baker, who was charged with the shooting death of a man in the parking lot of the Market Street at 4425 19th Street in Lubbock, has posted bond to get out of jail.

Baker was arrested on Sunday, November 8th by an off-duty officer after it's said he shot and killed 44-year-old Jason Holloway, who Baker claims he didn't know.

Baker admitted to driving to a nearby United Express gas station afterwards and firing shots at the building. He then told police he drove to Covenant Medical Center and fired shots into his own vehicle.

Baker's bond for murder was set at $350,000, which was posted by his family on November 13th, 2020. However, KAMC News reports that just before Baker could be released, prosecutors added an aggravated assault charge. On Monday, November 30th, Baker's attorney asked a judge to lower the bond on that charge. The day after, it was lowered to $15,000.

Baker's family has promised that upon his release, he would be provided with mental health treatment and 24/7 supervision.

Baker's attorney, Dan Hurley, gave this comment after Baker posted bail:

Robert will be under house arrest. We’re gonna begin trying to find out why he had this mental breakdown and learn as much as we can with experts as soon we can.

Baker had no criminal record prior to his shooting.
