Here's the Exact Time Lubbock Saw Its First Freeze of Fall 2017

It's official: winter weather is here.

The National Weather Service's Lubbock branch tagged 1:09 a.m. CDT on Saturday, Oct. 28, 2017 as the time and day of the city's first freeze of the fall. The group forecasted the chilly night/morning as the sun was going down in West Texas Friday night.

According to the Farmer's Almanac, this likely won't be Lubbock's last freeze of the year.

A winter that is "colder than normal, with above-normal precipitation" is predicted for this year, and the Almanac says that snowfall near or above normal toward the end of December, as well as early and mid-February, is coming.

Will Lubbock have a white Christmas or another massive blizzard this winter? We'll see.
