Lubbock is in serious need for blood donations. In fact, Vitalant, one of Lubbock's largest blood donation organizations, has stated that they currently have less than half of the blood supply that they need.

Where can I donate in Lubbock, TX?

Lubbock has multiple locations where you can donate blood and/or plasma!

It's never too late to donate blood and help save a life. Just one pint can help up to three people who need it, so you never know how many lives you impact by taking minutes out of your day for this simple stop.

If you wonder what happens to your blood after you donate, you're not alone.

What happens to my blood after I donate?

According to the Red Cross, your blood is first generously slurped out of your arm (1 pint, to be exact). Then, it'll be put into test tubes for processing.

Your blood is placed in a machine that spins it really, really fast, like that one ride at the fair where everyone throws up after. This machine essentially separates your blood into three components: red cells, platelets, and plasma.

Each component then is packed into individual units for transfusing in patients, but not before going through a process that will remove the white blood cells to avoid the patient reacting poorly to your personal life juice.

The final steps include testing to make sure you don't have any unfriendly diseases and to determine who would be a best fit for your donation, as well as storage and distribution to various hospitals.

Remember: always be A-positive person, don't ever B-negative...
