The Lubbock Fire Marshal's Office is investigating a U-Haul box truck fire that happened in South Lubbock earlier this month.

On Saturday, February 5th, Lubbock Fire Rescue were called to the 9600 block of Avenue P for a vehicle on fire. Crews quickly extinguished the fire which had spread to two adjacent trailers.

Officials claim the suspect drilled a hole in the fuel tank in an attempt to steal gasoline, but at some point, the gasoline ignited and caught the truck on fire. The suspect then fled the scene.

As of this time, no suspects have been named.
