A Lubbock driver that was involved in a hit-and-run crash says that he initially thought he had just hit a mailbox.

KAMC News reports that the crash happened around 9:25 p.m. on Monday, February 28th on County Road 7200 near Private Road 2450.

When police arrived at the scene, they located the victim, who wasn't identified. They were transported to University Medical Center with serious injuries. They were last reported to have been in stable condition.

The driver, who also wasn't identified, was found the day after by troopers with the Texas Department of Public Safety. He told them that he thought he had just hit a mailbox, so he drove back home immediately after.

So far, no charges have been filed against the driver.
