On Wednesday's edition of Lubbock's First News, city secretary Becky Garza talked with Tom Collins and guest host Sondra Ziegler about the recent failed petition to recall Councilman Floyd Price.

On Monday, the Office of the city secretary declared a petition from District 2 resident Gordon Harris to recall Councilman Price invalid. Garza explained that the reason the petition was declared invalid was because Harris failed to file the required affidavits needed for the petition.

Harris filed for the petition last month, and did obtain the required number of signatures needed for the petition. However, Garza said Harris will now have to start over and recollect those over 500 signatures again. She added that the new deadline for the petition to be filed in time for the special election in November is now August 15th.
