A petition to recall another Lubbock City Councilman has been declared as invalid.

The office of Lubbock City Secretary Becky Garza declared the petition to recall District 2 Councilman Floyd Price invalid because affidavits required by the City of Lubbock Charter were not filed with the petition.

The petition was delivered to Garza’s office Monday morning.

The City of Lubbock Charter requires that an affidavit stating that the number of signers to the petition and each signature is genuine and was made in the presence of the petitioner or gatherer.

The recall petition was initiated by District 2 resident Gordon Harris. He needed 509 signatures from District 2 voters to trigger a recall election against Price. The deadline to turn in the petition was Monday.

Price has served as the District 2 councilman since 2004.
