On the Friday edition of The Chad Hasty Show, Lana Moore spoke with Chad Hasty about her campaign for Lubbock City Council District 1.

Moore has been a long time resident of District 1, and explained that she has seen first-hand how the Council's inaction on certain issues, such as the outrageous LP&L rate hike last year, has hurt city residents. She added that it was clear that Hernandez is looking out for the businesses of Lubbock, and not looking out for the residents of District 1 like he should.

One of the major issues affecting District 1 right now is the growing controversy with the North and East Lubbock Community Development Corporation. (NELCDC) Moore believes that much of the money in NELCDC went to the administration and not to the renovations like the organization said it would. She added that instead of jumping off and building lots of new things in North and East Lubbock, like a monorail, there should be more focus on fixing up what they already have in that area.

"Let's fix the buildings that we've got. Let's don't run off and build brand new ones somewhere else...I guess what I'm trying to say is let's use what we've got. Put money into what we've got to make it better before we jump off into building monorails and things like that."

Moore also shared her thoughts on several other local issues, like raising taxes, downtown redevelopment, and how to deal with the crime rate in District 1. Listen to the full interview with Lana Moore here:
