During Thursday's Lubbock City Council meeting, the council unanimously approved three different sets of economic incentives for downtown development. The incentive packages were recommended by Market Lubbock.

The first package approved went to a corporate group spearheaded by Bart Reagor, Rick Dykes and the McDougal Companies.  RDM7, LLC received $34,000 in incentives for redeveloping an old Downtown Lubbock office building. Specifically, the Hemphill Wells Building at 1212 Avenue J. The group will conduct just over $340,000 worth of reconstruction to develop 2,500 square feet of office space in the building.

The next Market Lubbock grant approved by the city council went to West Family Hospitality Group. They are the owner of The West Table restaurant in the Pioneer Building at 1204 Broadway. The West Family Hospitality Group is working to expand their presence in the Pioneer Building by constructing a brew pub on the bottom floor. They will receive a grant of $25,284 for over $252,000 worth of construction.

The final Market Lubbock grant went to Mc & Mc Properties, L.C. The partnership of Delbert & Marc McDougal is constructing Lubbock's first pocket hotel. It will be located in the third floor of the Pioneer Building. There will be 10 guest rooms in total, ranging from 315 to 820 square feet. All of the booking and room access for the hotel will be handled online. A $48,832 grant will go toward the $488,000 cost of reconstructing the third floor of the Pioneer Building.

In other news from Thursday's council meeting, the council by a 6-0 vote, approved a variance which will allow on-premise alcohol sales at 2002 Broadway. The property, owned by Broadway Concepts, LLC, is within 300 feet of a church and Lubbock ISD's aquatic center.

The city council reappointed Terry Holman to the Annexation & Growth Advisory Committee. Holman will serve another three-year term. The council also approved the inclusion of the President of the South Plains Genealogical Society to serve on the Libraries Board. The current President of the South Plains Genealogical Society, Henry Ray Lozada, will fill the new spot on the board.
