The Lubbock Central Appraisal District has begun mailing out appraisal notices to area property owners.

The deadline to submit a protest for the property valuation is May 31st, 2013. The Appraisal Review Board hearings will begin May 6th, 2013 at the Lubbock Central Appraisal District offices at 2109 Avenue Q.

Property owners have the option to appeal the market or special appraised value of a property, an unequal appraisal of a property, exemptions, taxable status, ownership, or any other action taken by the appraisal district or appraisal review board that has adversely affected the property owner.

Those wishing to file a protest may file a written protest which is included in the appraisal notice, or can file online. Instructions to file an online protest are available at www.lubbockcad.org.

The appraisal notice also includes a statement which says “The Texas Legislature does not set the amount of your local taxes. Your property tax burden is decided by your locally elected officials, and all inquiries concerning your taxes should be directed to those officials.”
