A fire broke out at a residence where just one day earlier, 26-year-old Kyera Jones was fatally stabbed.

A neighbor called to report a fire in the 1800 block of East Colgate Street in Lubbock at around 7 a.m.

KAMC News reports the fire spread to the rear exterior of the home, then to the attic. The fire was contained to those areas, but the add-on was badly damaged.

Two people were displaced by the fire.

The home involved in the fire was where the above-mentioned stabbing happened. Jones was located at the home late Tuesday night and transported to University Medical Center, where she later died.

It's still unclear if these incidents are related.
