A woman in Lubbock, Texas says that she might've been sleepwalking when she stabbed someone back on Thursday, May 12th, 2022.

KAMC News reports that it happened in the 1300 block of 65th Street. The suspect, 20-year-old Maria Rodriguez, was apparently on the phone with an unknown person who was allegedly telling her to commit suicide. The victim confirmed this as well.

This is where the stories differ.

The victim says that Rodriguez was in the kitchen talking about suicide when they arrived, but Rodriguez tells a different story, saying that she had fallen asleep. Upon waking up, she realized that she had stabbed the victim. She told police that she thought she was sleepwalking and that "it was an accident."

The unnamed victim was transported to University Medical Center with unspecified injuries.

Rodriguez was booked in the Lubbock County Detention Center the day after for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. Her bond has been set at $10,000.
