Rep. Jonathan Stickland Blames Joe Straus for ‘Thwarting’ Conservative Legislation
Friday on The Chad Hasty Show, Texas House District 92 Representative Jonathan Stickland appeared to discuss the 85th Texas legislature and his priorities in Austin.
Chief among the topics Stickland discussed with Hasty was constitutional carry and laws surrounding the 2nd Amendment in other states.
"Texas needs constitutional carry because that's what the people have said they want,' said Rep. Stickland. "This is in fact the number one legislative priority of the Texas Republican platform."
Rep. Stickland also discussed the "roadblock" between Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick and House Speaker Joe Straus. The representative didn't hold back with his criticism of Straus.
"I definitely blame the Texas leadership team, that includes Joe Straus," said Rep. Stickland when asked about problems passing laws Republican voters support. "It also includes the people that he enables, the people that he's surrounded himself and built this kind of power structure in the House has definitely been working to thwart conservative legislation."
According to Rep. Stickland, Lt. Gov. Patrick's focus on laying out plans for the state rather than just "the small little group of people" who Straus has to face is more important for the Republican party in Texas.
