An area State representative has received an ideological award.

Representative Jim Landtroop of Plainview has been presented with the “Courageous Conservative” award, given by the Texas Conservative Coalition.

Landtroop has been named the fourth most conservative member of the Texas House of Representatives by the James A. Baker Institute, and also represents Texas on the International Energy Council.

“Landtroop was an outstanding freshman legislator who directly contributed to many conservative successes, including voter identification legislation, balancing the budget without raising taxes, and pushing back against the federal government’s overregulation,” said John Colyandro, executive director of the Texas Conservative Coalition.

Landtroop responded, saying “I am honored to receive this award, because this organization has a history of demanding truth and effectiveness from legislators and our state government.”
