Dairy Queen is Raising Money For UMC Children’s Hospital

Let's be honest...

You probably didn't need another excuse to grab a Blizzard from Dairy Queen. (My excuse yesterday when I ordered a Heath Blizzard from the Dairy Queen at 82nd & Indiana was that I'm fat and wanted one.)

But if eating one can also help children right here in Lubbock, that's about as sweet as it gets.

On Thursday, July 30th, participating DQ restaurants across Texas will celebrate Miracle Treat Day, an annual fundraiser that turns one of the state's favorite frozen treats into something much bigger than dessert.

For every Blizzard Treat sold that day, $1 or more will be donated to Children's Miracle Network, with proceeds from Lubbock-area restaurants staying local to benefit young patients at UMC Children's Hospital.

A Blizzard That Gives Back

Miracle Treat Day has become one of Dairy Queen's biggest charitable events of the year, proving that something as simple as ordering your favorite Blizzard can make a real difference for children and families facing serious medical challenges.

The money raised helps fund lifesaving equipment, advanced pediatric technology, specialized care programs, and resources that allow hospitals like UMC Children's Hospital to continue providing world-class care close to home.

Instead of traveling hundreds of miles for treatment, many West Texas families can receive specialized pediatric care right here in Lubbock thanks in part to community support like this.

Miracle Treat Day isn't just a Texas tradition, it's a North American one.

The annual fundraiser takes place at participating Dairy Queen locations across the United States and Canada, supporting 170 Children's Miracle Network hospitals.

Over the past 42 years, Miracle Treat Day has raised more than $195 million to help children receive life-saving medical care, advanced treatments, and family support services.

That's an incredible impact from a simple frozen dessert.
