At the start of every semester, when the students start flooding back to campus, Texas Tech hosts dozens of free activities for their students. These welcome week activities are a great opportunity to meet other students, explore campus, and get some free goodies.

There are several things going on each day for you to check out including opportunities to meet with various clubs and organizations. Some of those organizations include the Hispanic Student Society, the Alumni Association, the Equestrian Team, and the Tech Kpop Club.

There will also be a few chances to get some free food as well. If that is what you are going for, then check out the Ice Cream Social, Brunch on Broadway, Breakfast with CoMC, and Lunch with Chi Rho.

One of my favorite events that I went to as a student was the Hub City Fest. This year it will be on Friday, August 20, starting at 7 p.m. This is a great opportunity to see what Lubbock is all about as well as get some free goodies.

Keep in mind that you will need a student ID to get into most of these events and they usually scan the ID to see if you are actively taking classes or not. So, no trying to sneak your way in if you aren’t actually a student.

These events are a fantastic opportunity for new students to get a bit more comfortable on campus and find some ways to get more involved during their time at Tech.

You can find the full schedule as well as more information about each event on the Raider Welcome webpage.
