HOUSTON (AP) — Police say a tow truck driver in Houston whose wrecker was stolen moments after unloading a repossessed car was killed when the alleged thief ran him over.

Houston assistant police chief James Jones said Friday the suspected thief ultimately crashed the tow truck in neighboring Sugar Land and was arrested. Authorities didn't immediately release his name or charges.

Tito Moczygemba said he was helping the tow truck owner process a repossessed Kia when someone climbed in the wrecker and drove off. He told the Houston Chronicle the suspected thief threw the truck in reverse and pinned the owner when he tried confronting him.

Authorities say they didn't yet know a motive for the theft.
