High School Drama: Two Texas Teens Arrested for Terroristic Threats
Two teenagers in Spring Branch, TX, were arrested and placed under FBI investigation following threats that they will open fire at the nearby high school. Evidence showed the two were planning on placing pipe bombs in the school as well.
Houston FBI Investigation
According to reports from KHOU, authorities investigated a student at Willis High School who was allegedly in cahoots with a Spring Branch ISD student. They found evidence supporting the claim that the two girls intended to place pipe bombs at Memorial High School, along with plans to shoot students.
Spring Branch ISD did not release the names of the juveniles, but one girl is 15 years old while the other is 16. It was the 16-year-old who made the terroristic threat on social media. Authorities believe this threat to be credible due to the level of detail laid out in the post.
KHOU included the letter that was sent out to Memorial High School families and staff:
Dear Memorial High School Students, Families, and Staff,
I am writing to inform you of immediate action the SBISD Police took yesterday, in coordination with the FBI and the Montgomery County Sheriff's office. Upon being notified by the FBI of a potentially credible threat in the planning stages identified on social media against Memorial High School, SPISD police quickly identified and arrested an SBISD student connected to the threat. An additional individual in Montgomery County was also arrested. Both individuals remain in custody. As both individuals are juveniles, no information about the identity will be shared.
FBI Houston also took to X following the arrest of both teens, calling the potential event a "mass casualty attack."
Law enforcement officials continue to urge the public to report any suspicious activity, both in person and online, to authorities. You never know which threats are empty or real, just like this instance in Spring Branch.
