According to News West 9, detectives arrived at a hotel on the 3000 block of East Highway 80 with a search warrant. Suspecting that illegal drug deals were tied to a specific room, officers entered the unit and discovered the truth.

Here they found 1.8 grams of M30 pills that were laced with fentanyl, one gram of fentanyl powder, and a total of 9 grams of psilocybin mushrooms.

What Are M30 Pills and Psilocybin Drugs?

M30 pills are traditionally comprised of oxycodone and are available for prescription. However, fake versions are becoming more common that contain deadly amounts of synthetic opioids like fentanyl.

Psilocybin is a common hallucinogen that can be produced through a chemical process from over 100 species of mushrooms.

Three Suspects Arrested in Odessa

After discovering the illegal substances, Odessa Police placed three individuals under arrest: Matthew Harwell, Dominick Aguirre, and Rebecca Tafoya.

As the three suspects were being booked into the Ector County Detention Center, they each were sent through X-ray inspection. This was when officers noticed something was off.

As Matthew Harwell was scanned, there was an unknown object seen hidden inside of his anal cavity. Following a strip search, they removed 92.6 grams (3.27 ounces) of fentanyl from inside of his person.

It was later discovered that all three individuals had recently traveled to New Mexico to resupply their stash of illegal narcotics before returning to Odessa.

Felony Charges for All Three

On top of all three facing felony charges for engaging in criminal activity and manufacturing/delivering a controlled substance, Harwell was also charged with tampering with physical evidence and having a prohibited substance inside a correctional facility.

Tafoya is also facing an additional possession charge and is currently held at the Ector County Jail on a $70,000 bond. Harwell's bond sits at $80,000 while Aguirre is held on a $50,000 bond.
