Heres How to Clean Up Lubbock During Earth Month

It's April which means it's Earth Month and there are a lot of places stepping up to help clean up Lubbock and the community.

On Earth Day, April 22, 2022 there will be a city-wide event on Broadway full of clean-up, live music, food trucks and much more. This is good for all ages and happens from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. It will be right at Broadway Avenue and Avenue K. You can find out more about it on their website.

Then LHUCA and the CASP are having their first Community Arbor Day Clean-Up event on Friday, April 29th, 2022. After cleaning the streets, planting, and doing good there will be a 'Pines & Pints" to follow.

The event is from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. and the Pines and Pints start at 1 p.m. They will have a limited amount of Pine Seedlings available to plant in our "Lubbock, TX" can and LHUCA will be providing "Fun in the Sun", an Arts & Crafts activity!

They are asking for volunteers to help clean up in the Cultural Arts District. They will have Good Earth Recycle bins and roll off-dumpster for volunteers to dispose of debris. After the cleaning efforts have been completed, volunteers can enjoy a free refreshment or beer (21+ only), Pine’s & Pints activities, and Arts & Crafts from LHUCA at Two Docs Brewing Co.

Here is the full schedule:

11 a.m.- Two Docs Brewing Co. to open for volunteers to begin meeting.
- Mijo’s food truck will be open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for lunch.
11:45 a.m. - Volunteers can begin gathering Clean-Up Materials
- Gloves, safety vests, hand sanitizers, etc. will be provided for clean-up efforts. Volunteer Leaders will meet to begin assigning groups/zones.
12 p.m. - Volunteer Leaders will gather groups and begin cleaning assigned zones.
- Zones will be spread across the Cultural Arts District
- Types of items to be collected for waste:
  - Small Debris: Typical windblown trash such as food wrappers, bottles, cigarette butts etc..
  - Bulky: Large items such as furniture, pallets, appliances, yard toys etc.
  - Brush: Any tree, plant or natural vegetation waste
1 p.m.- Volunteers can begin regrouping at Two Docs for additional activities
- Pines & Pints - Presented by Two Docs x Visit LBK
  - Participants can plant Pine Seedlings in the Lubbock, TX can
  - All supplies will be provided for the class
- Fun in the Sun - Presented by LHUCA
  - Participants will engage and Free Arts & Crafts Event provided by LHUCA
2 p.m. - All volunteers may dispose of trash in the bin located in the parking lot.
- Volunteers (21+) will receive a beer
- Volunteers below 21 can enjoy a free refreshment

So come out and support a good cause. If these days don't work for you do some good and clean up an area by yourself. Let's make it a happy Earth Month in Lubbock.
