
Texas Tech Softball Run-Rules Mississippi State in World Series Opener
Red Raider softball just refuses to slow down after absolutely CRUSHING Mississippi State in the Women's College World Series opener on Thursday in Oklahoma City! With a score of 8-0, Texas Tech ended the game in a run-rule win over Mississippi State in the fifth inning.

Texas Tech's World Series Win Over Mississippi State
Senior pitcher NiJaree Canady threw a total of four scoreless innings, earning three strikeouts and just two hits. Following Thursday's win, Canady notched her 101st career victory with an impressive 1,103 strikeouts.
Junior Katelyn Terry provided relief pitching for Texas Tech in the fifth inning securing the win over the Bulldogs by keeping Mississippi State's runs at zero.
Looking at the Red Raider offense in the World Series opener, Junior Mia Williams was first up to bat for Texas Tech and was given first base after a hit-by-pitch. This brought up Senior Jackie Lis who hit a home run, bringing both her and Williams home for a 2-0 lead heading into the second inning.
By the top of the fifth inning, Texas Tech was up 4-0 against Mississippi State. Then, thanks to a splendid pitching effort from Terry, Red Raider defense flashed their colors once more to deny the Bulldogs from ever scoring a single run. With four more runs from Texas Tech in the bottom of the fifth, a run-rule took into effect, ending the game with a final score of 8-0, Red Raiders.

Texas Tech vs. Tennessee in Game Two
Texas Tech takes one day off before advancing to the second round of the Winners' Bracket in the Women's College World Series on Saturday. This is when they'll face the Tennessee Volunteers who defeated the Texas Longhorns on Thursday, 6-3.
