Hasty - Continue Pressure On Lawmakers For Constitutional Carry

Wednesday on The Chad Hasty Show, Hasty talked about the recent interview with Texas Governor Greg Abbott on WBAP radio in which he advised that he would sign a 'constitutional carry' bill if it passes through the Texas Legislature.

Hasty said, while talking about the need to keep pressure on lawmakers to ensure passage of the bill, and the timidity of some lawmakers in supporting the measure,

There's no guarantee at all right now that this thing's going to pass. There's no guarantee that it's going to get to the governor's desk. The last I heard, there was maybe a thirty percent to forty percent chance that it passes. There are Republican lawmakers who are worried about their future elections. There are other Republican elected officials and strategists and aides who are looking at the future elections, and going, 'We're not sure how future elections will go if we pass this measure.' And I understand that...I understand the worry about future elections, I really do...But I also come down this way on the issue: You're in office now. We could have solved this a couple years ago. We could have handled this a couple years ago but we did not. You're in office right now, there's no guarantee that you're going to be back next time. There's no guarantee that the Texas Senate will stay Republican for the next ten years. There's no guarantee that the Texas House will remain Republican for the next ten years...The only guarantee right now is that Republicans hold control, right now...For those who want it, you're going to keep pushing, you're going to have to keep fighting...Be professional when you call, be nice when you call, be courteous when you call...It's having an impact, it definitely, definitely is
