Groundbreaking for New Lubbock Dog Park to Be Held October 14
Coming up in a few weeks, the City of Lubbock will begin construction on the city's third dog park.
The newest dog park will be located inside McAlister Park, near northeast corner of the park on the eastbound US 62/82 access road, east of Milwaukee Avenue.
The groundbreaking will be held Wednesday, October 14 at 2 p.m., and feature Lubbock Mayor Dan Pope and other members of the Lubbock City Council.
The other two Lubbock dog parks are Canyon Run Dog Park, located at 102 E Cesar E. Chavez Drive inside Mackenzie Park, and Hub City Unleashed Dog Park, which is at 46th and Avenue U inside Clapp Park.
Both Canyon Run Dog Park and Hub City Unleashed Dog Parks is open Mondays from noon to 10 p.m., and Tuesday through Sunday from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. The parks offer acres of space, areas for larger dogs (30 pounds and heavier), areas for smaller dogs, water fountains and more.
The City of Lubbock asks citizens using either park to not bring sick or aggressive dogs, glass bottles, food for humans or puppies younger than 4 months old. Additionally, dogs must have a collar with up-to-date rabies tag and identification and be leashed while entering and leaving.
