A Frenship ISD teacher is a finalist for a prestigious award.

Jeremy Wagner, a science teacher at Frenship ISD’s Heritage Middle School, has been chosen as one of six finalists from across the state for the Texas Teacher of the Year.

Wagner has been selected with two other secondary educators and three elementary teachers out of the 40 regional Teachers of the Year from each of the state’s 20 education service center areas.

The finalists now compete for the honor of being named Texas Elementary Teacher of the Year and Texas Secondary Teacher of the Year.

The teachers were selected by a panel of judges who represent the state’s four teacher organizations, which include the Texas State Teachers Association, the Texas Classroom Teachers Association, the Texas chapter of the American Federation of Teachers, and the Association of Texas Professional Educators.

Wagner will interview before a judging panel in Austin on September 15th. One of the top winners will also be selected to be considered for National Teacher of the Year honors.

The finalists, as well as the regional Teachers of the Year will be recognized at a luncheon and awards ceremony on October 19th.
