Authorities Arrest Former Idalou Police Officer for Aggravated Assault
A former Idalou Police Officer was arrested Wednesday (June 12th) for two counts of aggravated assault by a public servant.
According to KAMC News, 25-year-old Miguel Guerrero Jr. asked another officer to come to his house late at night back in August of 2018. Guerrero allegedly had two men on the ground at gunpoint.
Audio recordings released later said that Guerrero threatened to kill the men even while they were on the ground handcuffed, pulling one of the men's hair and pointing a gun at his head.
The arrest warrant claims that Guerrero continuously threatened both men, saying things like he would put his gun in their mouths and blow off their heads. When Guerrero discovered the iPhone recording of the incident, he whispered to another officer to get rid of it.
The second officer told Texas Rangers that the men were being "compliant and were not being disrespectful."
Lubbock County Sheriff's Deputies were also called to the house for the same incident, and they were told Guerrero was having a relationship with another man's girlfriend.
Guerrero was able to post a $15,000 bond.
