First Taste of Fall: Cold Front Hitting Texas This Week
Buckle up, Texas, because temperatures are finally starting to catch up to the fall season in the Lone Star State.
Texas Forecast
According to a report from the National Weather Service, the stretch of record-high heat last weekend is coming to an end as a cold front will advance through Central Texas. This will lower temperatures across the state, as a result.
Texas Storm Chasers also includes that most of Texas will go from a high of mid-90s to 20-30 degrees cooler by Wednesday.
By Thursday, the northern half of Texas will experience 30 to 40-degree temperatures, while southern portions will see 50s and 60s.
This won't be permanent, however, as the state will slowly warm back up by this weekend. So, enjoy it while it lasts!
Lubbock's Chilly Forecast
For Lubbock and the South Plains, tonight's temps heading into Wednesday are no exception. From Cochran to Swisher County, temperatures will drop to the upper 30s tonight. Borden, Scurry, and Fisher Counties are only a little better as they will see lows in the mid-40s.
National Weather Service also warns West Texans of the potential impact that the cold air could bring along with near-freezing temperatures. They also recommend bringing in any vegetation you may have out in your yard or porch so they don't freeze and die overnight.
Tomorrow in West Texas will see mid-60s from Lubbock and Plainview to Brownfield and Aspermont. The good news? Mostly clear skies all day tomorrow. The not-so-good news? It will be a bit breezy with highs below seasonal norms for this time of year.
So, go out and make sure you enjoy this perfect sweater-weather before it gets too cold this year!
