Extreme Cuts In Store For Texas Budget – Scott Braddock Reports [INTERVIEW]
Monday on The Chad Hasty Show, Scott Braddock, editor of Quorum Report, joined the program to talk about the latest in news around Texas.
Braddock and Hasty discussed the plight of Shelly Luther, the Dallas salon owner who was sentenced to seven days in jail after reopening her business prior to the date allowed by the state. Shelly was released after being granted a motion by the Texas Supreme Court, and Governor Greg Abbott amending his coronavirus-related executive orders, eliminating jail penalties for business owners who violate the orders.
Also in the discussion was the specter of mail-in ballots in the upcoming general election, the state of Texas' budget negotiations, and what the legislature will be considering in the budget process.
If you look at it Chad, about a hundred members of the [current] Texas house have never been through a serious budget cutting session...When you talk to some of the folks who have been here for a long time in Austin at the state capitol, they will tell you: There are plenty of lawmakers who think that they've been through a conservative budget session before, but 'they ain't seen nothing yet.' One Republican senator told me that everything would be on the table...Looking at every place they can cut, cut, cut, in that budget, not just down to the bone Chad, but cutting into the bone.
