Tuesday on The Chad Hasty Show, Lubbock County Republican Chairman Carl Tepper was filling in as guest host, and had a great interview with Veronica “Ronnye” Vargas-Stidvent, Western Governors University Texas Chancellor.

WGU is an online university, specializing in providing an affordable and accessible way for people to gain an education and degree in over fifty accredited degree programs, with both undergraduate and graduate diplomas in high-demand career fields. The university is student-focused and competency-based, and is a nonprofit university providing flexible paths for higher education.

Asked by Tepper about employer attitudes toward degrees received online, Vargas-Stidvent replied,

I think they're really changing. We had a Harris survey that [was] conducted about our own students. and by and large employers were really, really impressed with them. So, we're talking about 96 percent being very happy with our students, wanting to hire another WGU graduate, so times are changing. I think more and more people are more familiar with online education, they understand there is high quality online education like the one that's offered at WGU Texas, and they recognize that that's a really good way to make education affordable and accessible to students who otherwise couldn't attend because of cost and work and family responsibilities.
