Two men were arrested after a fist fight escalated into a shooting, leaving one wounded.

According to Everything Lubbock, the incident occurred Sunday afternoon at a house on 53rd Street in central Lubbock.

Police told KAMC that a mother, accompanied by her cousin and another man, went to pick up her two children from their father's home. At some point during the visit, the group of adults started arguing, then punching each other. The father entered his home and returned with what police believe was an AR-15. He fired and hit the woman's cousin in the ankle. He was transported to UMC.

A woman who witnessed the shooting told KAMC that she tried to help the man who was shot, but was warned away by the father. She says he was still holding a gun and said the situation was not her business.

Two arrests were made following the incident. Ricky Ronnie Alvarez (27) was charged with one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Ruben Scott Alvarez (36) was charged with one count of hindering apprehension or prosecution.

Police have yet to find the weapon used in the shooting. The two children were unharmed and placed in their mother's custody.
