A debate has been brewing at the State Capitol and inside City Hall's across Texas. Should the State step in and reign in cities that have passed ordinances that the State see's as infringing on personal or property rights? State Rep. Matt Rinaldi, a Republican from Irving, wrote a piece yesterday for the Texas Tribune where he argues that Liberty trumps local control. Bills have been filed this session which would repeal bag bans, ordinances allowing red-light cameras, and restrict landlords from being able to choose tenants.

In his opinion piece, Rinaldi writes that while local control is important, liberty is more important. What do you think?
