December 6: Fatal Crash in North Lubbock, Serious Injuries Sustained in Crash Near Shallowater
Two separate traffic accidents occurred on Monday. One near Shallowater and another in Lubbock at the Marsha Sharp Freeway and Interstate-27.
One person is dead and two injured after a wreck in North Lubbock.
On Monday, December 6th, Lubbock Police responded to the crash just after 6 a.m. at the intersection of the Marsha Sharp Freeway and Interstate 27 access roads.
An investigation revealed a sedan driven by 19 year-old Destiny Okoronkwo was traveling west on the MSF access road. Another vehicle driven by 27 year-old Karlonte Jackson was traveling north on the I-27 access road. Both vehicles collided at the intersection.
Okoronkwo was pronounced dead at the scene, while Jackson and another passenger sustained minor injuries.
A wreck in northwest Lubbock County near Shallowater landed the two drivers in the hospital with serious injuries.
The Texas Department of Public Safety report the accident happened at approximately 8 a.m. on Monday, December 6th, at the intersection of FM 1294 and U.S. Highway 84.
Authorities say a car was traveling southeast on U.S. 84 when the driver of a pickup failed to yield the right-of-way at the intersection, resulting in the wreck.
Upon arrival, both drivers were taken to University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
As of this time, no identities have been released.
