Dan Patrick Will Seek Re-Election In 2022
Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick announced on Wednesday that he would be seeking re-election for Lieutenant Governor in 2022. The announcement came in a press release touting Patrick's fundraising.
“I am grateful to have received this incredible support. 2020 was a very difficult year for businesses and our state economy, but we know Texas is coming back stronger than ever. I have spoken to business and grassroots leaders across the state and am so proud of their confidence in my leadership. They share my commitment to Texas values – life, liberty, low taxes, reasonable regulation, and a climate where businesses can create jobs and all Texans can thrive.
“The Texas conservative majority spoke loudly in November, voting to keep the Texas House and Senate and all statewide offices in Republican hands and I am confident we will keep the streak alive in 2022. I remain honored to serve as Lt. Governor and look forward to running for re-election.”
In the second half of 2020, the Lieutenant Governor raised over $4.9 million dollars bringing his campaign war chest to over $19.4 million. According to his press release, Patrick has raised more in campaign contributions than any other previous Lieutenant Governor in Texas.
Patrick was first elected Lieutenant Governor of Texas in 2014 and won re-election in 2018.
Patrick's campaign war chest numbers were announced the day after Governor Greg Abbott made headlines for having $38 million in his own campaign war chest.
