Parrish and Hasty discussed many issues, including the duties and responsibilities of county judges, limiting property taxes, and maintenance of public facilities and infrastructure.
With a large amount of debate going on in the local conversation about the state of disrepair and the possible abandonment of the Lubbock Municipal Auditorium and Colosseum, Hasty asked if the same issues about responsible maintenance of public properties apply on the county level. Parrish replied, "It's an issue for every governmental entity, including Lubbock County."
When asked about the job being done by Lubbock County commissioners in the area of maintaining county property, Parrish replied,
There's absolutely room to improve. Especially when we're talking roads...And understand, roads are not just for convenience. There's a public safety aspect to maintaining our county roads. There's an economic development aspect to maintaining our county roads. And, there is an educational aspect to maintaining our county roads.
