On Monday's edition on Lubbock's First News, Congressman Randy Neugebauer talked with Tom Collins and Laura Mac about the latest going on in Washington.

Talking about the fiscal cliff, Neugebauer said that President Obama has done a great job of distracting everyone from the real problem: government spending. He stated that for every dollar the government has spent, they have had to borrow forty-six cents.

"It's really about the spending. We're taking enough of the American people's hard-earned money out of their paychecks. What we really need to do is we need to get Washington to get in control of their spending. And so, what we wanted to do was start highlighting some of these spending issues."

Neugebauer went on to list several outrageous statistics and expenditures from the government.

Neugebauer also commented on the ongoing unrest in the Middle East, saying that the entire region is one big powder keg, and that he sees no short-term solution to the conflict. He also brought up the recent unemployment numbers and said he would like to see more of the money spent on unemployment be used to actually get people back in the workforce.

You can listen to Congressman Randy Neugebauer Mondays at 7:35 during Lubbock's First News on NewsTalk 790 KFYO.
