Congressman Randy Neugebauer Tuesday afternoon announced that he is cancer-free after battling a bout of prostate cancer.

Congressman Neugebauer said he had his final radiation treatment last Friday.

Congressman Neugebauer and his wife, Dana, thanked the 19th Congressional District for its support, prayers and well wishes during his treatment.

"I want to thank all of you that sent encouraging letters and emails," Neugebauer said.

"Your thoughts and prayers have meant a lot to Dana and me. We shared this chapter in our family to highlight the importance of early detection and treatment of prostate cancer. So many new discoveries are taking place in the treatment of all kinds of cancer which brings hope for many," he said. "I also want to acknowledge the many dedicated healthcare professionals who team up with their patients to fight the good fight. They are an integral part of the treatment. I want to personally thank the team at Johns Hopkins who were so caring and professional. So cancer-free once more, I look forward to continuing the busy months ahead."

Neugebauer is scheduled for his next interview on News/Talk 790, KFYO on Monday, August 17 at 7:35 a.m. during Lubbock’s First News with Tom Collins and Laura Mac.
