Lubbock Man Allegedly Chokes, Threatens Person for Going Through His Phone
On Wednesday, June 22nd, a Lubbock man was arrested after it's said that he choked and threatened to kill someone.
Lubbock Police responded to the Waterside Village Apartments in the 2300 block of 70th Street. There, they found the victim, who wasn't publicly identified, with red marks and scratches on their neck.
They say that they were going through 19-year-old James Perez's phone, angering him and making him forcefully grab the phone from the victim's hands. After saying they needed to leave, the victim was allegedly thrown across the living room and began being choked on the ground. KAMC News reports the altercation then went to the bedroom, where Perez is said to have choked the victim again.
The victim managed to run back to the living room, but Perez was then pointing a gun at them. Reports say that Perez said he would kill the victim if they called police. Despite this, the victim ran away to the front office of the apartment complex and called for help.
Perez was eventually arrested for aggravated assault and transported to the Lubbock County Detention Center. His bond was set at $250,000.
