On Friday's edition of Lubbock's First News, Jerry Reynolds, host of the Car Pro Show, joined Chad Hasty and Rex Andrew to talk about the current sate of the auto industry.

Reynolds said that, despite the rough economy, auto sales are going strong. He expects that over 14 million cars will be sold this year. Reynolds said this growth in the industry is the result of consumers having more options when it comes to fuel efficient vehicles.

"5 years ago, if you wanted a really fuel efficient car, that meant you had to buy a really cheap car that had no options on it and was plain-looking. Today, if you look at the options that you have for a 40 mile per gallon car on the highway, there's a bunch of them out there. And they're really nice cars."

Reynolds added that cars today come with much more safety features than ever before, such as additional airbags and lane sensors. He said that this probably due to car manufactures trying to compensate for the number of distracted drivers on the road. Reynolds also talked about some of the best pick-ups on the road, as well as the value of classic cars.

The Car Pro Show airs Saturdays from 11 AM to 2 PM on NewsTalk 790 KFYO. For more information on the show and to see some of Jerry Reynolds's car reviews, visit carprousa.com.
