Braddock: Texas Can No Longer Showcase Reputation Of Limited Government [INTERVIEW]
Monday on The Chad Hasty Show, Scott Braddock, editor of QuorumReport.com, joined the program to talk about the latest in Texas news and politics.
Braddock and Hasty first talked about the opinion piece in the Dallas Morning News penned by former Speaker of the Texas House of Representatives Joe Straus, in which he calls for universal mail-in voting in the state.
Also in the discussion was the fact that Texas Governor Greg Abbott had promised an update on Texas business closures and restrictions during the coronavirus crisis, but has yet provided any substantial information on that front.
While speaking about the consequences of the state's closures and restrictions, and how Governor Abbott and the state are being viewed in the wake, Braddock said,
One of the reasons people move here in droves is because they have heard (it's the marketing right?) that Texas government gets out of the way, and lets private business do pretty much what private business wants to do. Or at the very least, Texas government is a partner with private business, as far as trying to create jobs and prosperity. But when you have a governor who has become the face of government action that directly impacts your life every single day, as in you've got to wear a mask, you can't go to the restaurant you like to go to...or the bar that you love is closed because of this, whether it's his fault or not, he is the individual who is associated with those decisions directly. So now people have the sense that Texas government is in their life every day. And they don't like it, and they don't like him.
