
Boost Your Financial Literacy With Goodwill’s Free New Course
There are lots of people who love thrift stores and just searching for items that have a rich history and one of those places is Goodwill. While Goodwill is a great place to find a good deal, or even a lost 1937 diploma, but recently Goodwill Industries of Northwest Texas has launched a new program.
The financial literary series is a collaboration between Goodwill Industries of Northwest Texas and the Career Resource Centers in Lubbock and Amarillo which will utilize the FDIC "Smart Money" curriculum in a six-week series course. This course will include Analyzing Credit Reports and Scores, Protecting Your Identity and Other Assets, Enhancing Your Money Values and Influences, Effectively Managing Debt, Securing Your Savings and Creating a Spending and Savings Plan.
This financial literacy series is free of charge to the community so that those that participate can move on to a new life through a new career. The main goal behind the series is to prepare students on how to handle their money for new and better jobs that will come with better pay. The course will also help build jobs skills so that students can hold onto those new better paying jobs states President & CEO Robin Raney.
Classes for the financial literacy series will begin on January 23, 2024 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. for six-weeks. Anyone seeking more information can contact the Goodwill Career Resource Centers in Lubbock, 806-744-0440, and Amarillo, 806-331-6890, or by email at goodwillnwtexas.org/job-training.
