Ben Powell Says Governments Need To Liberate The Economy

Director of the Free Market Institute at Texas Tech, Dr. Ben Powell, joined The Chad Hasty Show on Wednesday to discuss the impact the economic shutdown has had and will continue to have moving forward.

When asked how government should reopen the economy, Powell told Hasty it should be a "liberation".

It needs to be a liberation is what I think it needs to be. The government needs to cease giving us orders on who can open when and how. I think they need to free us to let business owners decide for themselves when they can safely operate and customers choose to patronize those businesses when they see fit.

Dr. Powell also discussed the long-term outlook for the economy and whether or not it will bounce back quickly.
