The Lubbock Parks and Recreation Department has announced details on one of their annual pool events.

The annual K-9 Splash Fest will take place at Clapp Pool on Sunday, August 17, which is also the last day of the year for municipal pools to be open. At the 2014 Splash Fest attendees are invited to bring their dogs to swim. There will also be swim suit, diving and retrieving competitions for the dogs with prizes in each event.

The department stipulates that all dog owners must present a 2014 rabies tag or certificate from a veterinarian. Dogs must be leashed, and aggressive dogs are not allowed.

Door prizes and concessions will be made available. Also, City of Lubbock Animal Services will have a booth at the event providing microchipping for dogs at a cost of $10.

Admission fees for participants are $2.50 for adults and $2 for youth 17 or younger. Clapp Pool is located inside K. N. Clapp Park at 46th Street and Avenue U.
