The Lubbock Police Department (LPD) has released the date for the next abandoned vehicle auction. It will be held this Saturday, May 16, and a special inspection day will be held on May 14 to offer the public a chance to view the vehicles beforehand.

Abandoned Vehicle Auction in Lubbock

According to a recent post from LPD on Facebook, gates open for the next abandoned vehicle auction this Saturday at 8 a.m. The auction officially kicks off at 9 a.m.

Auction Rules and Info

The May 16 abandoned vehicle auction will take place at Lubbock Wrecker Service on 3209 East Slaton Highway. Everyone who wishes to attend must register by 9 a.m. Any late registrations will not be accepted.

Anyone who wishes to get a sneak peek of the vehicles that will be auctioned off is invited to attend the inspection day on Thursday, May 14, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

All bidders will be issued a yellow sticker with a unique number that should be visible on clothing for the auctioneer to see. All guests will have an orange sticker and will not be allowed to bid.

Here's where it gets interesting. All vehicles are sold as is, and bidders are not allowed to inspect the car before it is sold. This means they can't look at the trunk or open any doors until the sale is official.

One final remark: Cash is not accepted, and split payment methods are not allowed. The only permissible methods of payment are either debit/credit cards or a check.

You can visit the auction website to see more rules and how you can be involved in the upcoming abandoned vehicle auction with LPD!
