Ballet Folklórico de México Coming to Buddy Holly Hall: When to Get Tickets

One of the most enriching cultural dance companies is coming to Lubbock to the Buddy Holly Hall, and here's how you can score tickets to see them in person!

Who Is Ballet Folklórico de México?

Ballet Folklórico de México first started 1952 when a young choreographer decided to form her own dance workshop with a small group of eight committed souls.

Over the years, the group grew more and more as they began gaining international attention. They traveled all across Cuba, Canada, and even to Chicago and Los Angeles, performing at many Mexican Independence Day celebrations.

As their stardom rose, so too did their recognition. In 1959, the then-Mexican President Adolfo Lopez Mateos, offered his full support in making Ballet Folklórico de México (The Mexican Folklore Ballet) the number-one ballet company in the world.

Although founder, Amalia Hernandez, passing away in 2000 at the age of 83, her legacy lives on in the ever-growing dance company.
