Current Roadwork Construction Projects Impacting Lubbock Drivers

If you plan on traveling anytime soon around Lubbock, then keep in mind that there are several projects that have lanes closed and traffic diverted, both inside and out of Lubbock County.

South Lubbock Construction Projects

Construction on Loop 88 along FM 1585 from Avenue P to Frankford Avenue is still in effect. This project is delaying traffic on east and westbound lanes and has an expected end date of October 30, 2026. Anyone traveling on this road should keep an eye out for personnel directing traffic with flags and signs.

Just further south from the Loop 88 road work is a project along US 87. If you are planning on heading this way anytime soon, buckle up, because this construction project isn't set to be complete until July 14 of 2027.

Both north and southbound lanes are being affected with alternating closures, and many instances see travel reduced to just one lane in each direction.

This next project is much closer to downtown Lubbock on South Loop 289. These closures on both north and southbound lanes will most definitely impact any travel through the neighborhoods of Chapel Hill, Windmill, and even Clayton Carter.

This small project is expected to end soon on August 31.

Surrounding Construction to Look Out For

Another project that's near the City of Lubbock is the massive construction happening along SH 207, spanning from Post all the way up to Ralls. Take a look at the interactive map screenshot:

For as large as this swath of road includes (over 34 miles), the expected end date is actually pretty soon on September 18. This should free up some congestion for those seeking to travel east of Lubbock this fall season.
