On Thursday, July 16, 5 people involved in a 2-vehicle accident were taken to a hospital in Lubbock with severe injuries.

The Texas Department of Public Safety reports that the accident occurred just before 1 p.m. Thursday, July 16, just northeast of Lubbock near the intersection of U.S. Highway 62/82 and County Road 3100.

A pickup heading north on County Road 3100 allegedly failed to yield the right of way to a car that was heading west on Highway 62/82, and they both collided.

The driver of the pickup, identified as 31-year-old Michael Shuping of Lubbock, was taken to University Medical Center for serious but unspecified injuries.

The driver of the car is identified as Delia De Los Santos of Ralls, but her age was not specified. Santos and her 3 passengers (2 adults and 1 juvenile) were also injured in the accident and taken to UMC. The extent of their injuries is not known.
