10-Year-Old Brings Small, Clear Bag of Drugs to Texas School, Gets Arrested
A fifth-grader in Texas was caught with a small bag of cocaine at school. They were then arrested and transported to a juvenile detention center.
Seguin ISD Juvenile Arrest
Recently, a student at Jefferson Elementary School in Seguin, TX reported a small baggy of white powder that they found hidden in a desk to school authorities.
The resource officer on campus at Jefferson Elementary received word of the illegal narcotics on school grounds. The substance, later confirmed to be cocaine hydrochloride, was brought to school by a separate student--a fifth-grade girl.
The girl was then identified and arrested before being sent to the Guadalupe County Juvenile Probation Department. She was charged with possession of a substance in penalty group 1 in a drug-free zone, My San Antonio reported.
The school principal sent a statement to fellow student's families. "Today, a student discovered a small quantity of a controlled substance, later identified as cocaine, inside a desk," the statement read.
"A thorough investigation was conducted," and after the student was identified, "appropriate disciplinary actions have been taken per school policy and the law."
What is Cocaine Hydrochloride?
Thanks to the incognito tab... Cocaine Hydrochloride is the salt form of your typical drug, cocaine. This form easily binds to the dopamine and serotonin in the brain leading to an accumulation of each. This results in a sense of increased stimulation and euphoria of the user, eventually leading to a dependence.
Another reason that the drug is so dangerous is due to the fact that it "inhibits the initiation and conduction of nerve impulses and produces reversible loss of sensation," according to the National Library of Medicine.
