Xcel Energy

Xcel Energy has been recognized for their relief work in 2012.

Xcel was honored by the Edison Electric Institute with the association’s Emergency Assistance Award for their outstanding effort in Ohio last summer and in the Northeast for Hurricane Sandy.

The award is presented annually to domestic and foreign-based member companies for restoring electricity services that was disrupted by storms or other natural disasters. All four Xcel Energy's operating companies sent crews to assist other utilities in restoration of electric utilities.

A total of 230 Xcel Energy employees and contractors assisted in the Hurricane Sandy restoration along with 72 employees sent to Ohio in July of 2012 after storms knocked power out to nearly a million customers.
