Visitation For Shannon Stone Takes Place in Brownwood
The family of Shannon Stone honored his life earlier today with a public visitation in Brownwood. Hundreds of friends, family and fellow firefighters turned out for the event.
The 39 year-old Stone tragically died last Thursday at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington during a Rangers-Athletics game. He worked as a Brownwood firefighter for the past 18 years.
Shannon Stone fell 20 feet head-first out of the left field stands while lunging for a ball thrown by Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton. Stone was trying to get a ball from Hamilton for his 6 year-old son Cooper, who was in attendance with him.
During the Rangers-Athletics games on Friday, Saturday & Sunday, all flags at Rangers Ballpark were at half-staff and the players and umpires wore black ribbons memorializing Stone.
The Texas Rangers have set up a memorial fund for Shannon Stone's family and donations can be made online.
The funeral for Stone will take place tomorrow.
