University Medical Center to Award Women’s Health Grants

An area hospital will award grants for further research on issues affecting women’s health.
The University Medical Center Health System will award the six grants this week, to aid the work of six teams of physicians and other faculty members at the Texas Tech Health Sciences Center.
The projects will be led by faculty from the TTUHSC Schools of Medicine and Allied Health and Nursing will cover a range of health issues important to women, or those that address the role of gender in health outcomes.
“All of these projects represent an investment in improving women’s health in our region,” said David Allison, UMC president and CEO. “UMC has a tremendous partner with Texas Tech and the Laura W. Bush Institute for Women’s Health.”
The grants will be awarded at the Research Scholar Program and Seed Grant Project Awards at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 17th on the second floor of the UMC East Tower.
