The Rain Is Good, But We Could Use Some More

Matt Cardy, Getty Images

There is good news and bad news about the rain Lubbock has received this year.

Including the .08 inch of rain on Thursday, the total for the year is just under 5 inches, 4.99 to be exact. The good news is that’s better than last year.  But remember, last year was the driest year ever in Lubbock.

The bad news is that 4.99 inches of rain so far this year is still below where we should be at this point in thse  year, about 2 ¾  inches below normal.  On the bright side, the rain we have had recently has been enough for the county commissioners to allow fireworks on the Fourth of July.
